Priorities

PUSD has strong foundations to build upon, but the past few years have presented significant challenges. In response, the School Board guided the district in creating a strategic plan and outlining the desired attributes of PUSD graduates. These are our North Star.

If elected to the School Board, I will help the district refine and execute on this strategic plan by leveraging my skills, experience, and bridge-building approach to:

  • Guide PUSD’s evolution to be a deeply student-centered organization that collaborates effectively with parents while fostering a supportive environment for our exceptional teachers and staff. Such an environment can retain and attract top, diverse talent.

  • Ensure that every learner receives the academic and social support they need by addressing their diverse, dynamic needs and providing well-defined learning pathways. Given ongoing budget constraints, we must continue balancing practicality with creativity and innovation.

  • Continue building a cohesive school community in which all students and staff know they belong and are supported. In such an environment, students gain the confidence to push their boundaries and challenge themselves. Efforts such as a comprehensive social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum for all K-12 grades, effective diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) practices, and a consistent, transparent process for managing and addressing challenging student behaviors are essential to enhancing the lilved experiences of both students and staff, creating a learning community where everyone can thrive.

  • Prioritize the development of critical thinking skills, including around technology, to ensure students can reflect deeply on the evolving world around them. This will empower them to make decisions that benefit themselves and their communities, both during their time at PUSD and throughout their lives.
